Apple iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 are the ultra-premium range. Both the companies give a tough competition to each other in all ways. Each company comes up with the best devices and now both companies launched their ultra-premium range product.
So, let’s compare both the smartphones and which will rule the smartphone market?
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Apple iPhone X designs and looks are amazing in their own way. Apple iPhone X is made from a combination of glass and stainless steel with glass covering front and back. And another side, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is made from the chassis of Samsung Galaxy S8 with some changes and the edges are square(ish) and also, it does sport a glass finish.
Apple claims that the Apple iPhone X uses “the most durable glass ever in a smartphone, front and back,” and on the other side, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 sports a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Apple iPhone X is more compact with 143.6mm wide, 70.9 mm tall and 7.7mm thick. While Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is 162.5 mm wide, 74.8 mm tall and 8.6 mm thick.
Apple iPhone X is lighter than Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The weight of the Apple iPhone X is 174 grams and the weight of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is 195 grams. Apple always takes the lead in compactness and lightweight designs. However, Galaxy Note 8 comes with the S-Pen features, which works smoothly and gives an advantage to Samsung over Apple.
Apple iPhone X carries 82.9 screens to body ratio. It features 5.8 inch Super Retina display with screen resolution of 2436 1125 pixels and 458ppi pixel density.
And Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has 6.3 inch Quad HD+ Infinity display with screen resolution of 2960 1440 pixels and 521ppi pixel density. While both use an AMOLED screen, but Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has a slightly better display as compared to iPhone X.
Apple comes up with Touch ID sensor and used facial recognition as a primary source of making it secure. The company claims that iPhone is used to map user’s face and unlock it using FaceID.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has also facial recognition feature and the company has added a host of security features in the latest device. Users get iris scanner, facial recognition, and fingerprint scanner. If any of the security aspects failed, the user can shift on the other sensors as well.
Hardware and Software
Apple iPhone X powered by a latest A11 Bionic chip with a neutral engine. iPhone features 6-core CPU with 2 performance cores that are 25 percent faster and 4 efficiency cores. And it 70 percent faster than the A10 Fusion. The A11 Bionic delivers 30 percent faster performance than the previous generation.
While Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is powered 2.3GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 8895 processor. The smartphone has 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and it can be further expanded up to 256GB via micro SD card slot. Samsung Galaxy Note has Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
Apple iPhone X 13 megapixel wide angle lens with aperture f/1.8 and 12-megapixel telephoto lens with aperture f/2.4 with sensors support Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS).
While Galaxy Note 8has 12 megapixel wide angle lens with OIS, aperture f/1.7, 14-micron pixel size, 77-degree field of view and 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom.
In-camera both smartphones are good, it is difficult to decide which one does a better job in camera.
Apple iPhone X has battery capacity 2 hours more than iPhone 7. While the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has 3300mAH battery.
Apple iPhone supports WiFI 802. 11ac Wi Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC with reader mode, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS.
And Samsung Galaxy Note 8 supports WIFI 802. 11ac, VHT*) MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C, NFC, MST and hybrid dual-SIM.
In the Indian market, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is priced at Rs 67,900. While the 64GB iPhone X is priced at Rs 89000.
The competition is a quite close one. Both are the premium design phones. While iPhone X is compact than Galaxy Note 8. On the other side, Galaxy Note 8 has a better display in terms of screen resolution. And in terms of price Galaxy Note 8 is cheaper than iPhone X.
