On 7th April, in Odisha Airtel Payment Bank had opened more than 150000 saving accounts. Also Airtel said that approximate 30% of accounts are opened in the rural areas. Airtel Payments Bank services is starts in 2017 along with 28 other states. Within just 3 months, the Airtel has reached the achievement.
Company says that over 15000 Airtel retail store in Odisha. These Airtel retail stores are being operated as banking points for Airtel Payments Bank to add money into the payments account. In Airtel payments bank users can add cash, users can open a saving account and withdraw money from their banking points. Airtel has around 2, 50,000 banking points across the country.
“Airtel Payments Bank has received on overwhelming response from customers in Odisha. We believe, Airtel Payments Bank’s differentiated banking model will play a major role in taking banking services to the mile and benefit lakhs of unbanked people in the state,” said Shashi Arora, managing director & chief executive officer of Airtel Payments Bank.
Airtel says in the press statement that, “Airtel Payments Bank will enable over more than 100 villages across Odisha to be less cash reliant as part of its endeavor to take its banking services deep into rural/unbanked areas and contribute to financial inclusion in the country. These villages will have access to basic banking services and the option of making digital payments, making them less reliant on cash.”
Airtel Payments Bank has already partnership with 5 million vendors to accept payment from payment bank. The Airtel Payment Bank will not charge any transaction fee from its users and vendors, by that promising that to adopt cashless payments.
