From the grounds of ICC Women’s World Cup 2017, Indian Women’s Cricket Team rarely missed a chance to make India proud. Today’s match, India vs New Zealand, Indian women beat New Zealand women by 186 runs. Though this match was a do or die situation for both the teams. India and New Zealand both were fighting for that one last spot left in the semi-finals, While England, defending champions Australia and South Africa have already sealed their semi-finals spot.
The Indian women’s team started the tournament brilliantly by winning its first four matches. The tournament has been brilliant for the Indian players when it comes to individual achievements as well. However, consecutive losses in the last two games have put the team into such do or die situation which was handled by our team very smoothly.
After losing the openers cheaply, Indian skipper Mithali Raj’s ton made it a cake walk for the Indian team. It was the 6th ODI hundred for the Indian captain. Mithali once again
charioted Indian team in a crucial match. Harmanpreet Kaur also scored a fifty but the real acceleration was provided by Veda Krishnamurthy who smashed her way to a half-century. India has finished their innings at 265/7.
And the rest was up to Indian bowlers. New Zealand chase got off to a poor start as India Pacers- Goswami and Pandey remove their openers cheaply. India left no room for recovery from there on as they kept picking important wickets. Spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad produced a special bowling performance as she picked up her first five-wicket haul. Deepti Sharma also picked up two crucial wickets in the middle. The woman in blue put up their best bowling performance in this tourney in a do-or-die clash. New Zealand lost the match at 79 runs in just 25.3 overs
If Indian team continues this in the next two games, India will lift their maiden World Cup title at Lord’s in London.
