It has become a habit to see the young, talented and aggressive all-rounder of team India Hardik Pandya on the field in all the formats. But BCCI has decided to give him some rest!
On Friday, The all rounder’s name was not on the selection list as BCCI can witness the “heavy workload” on the cricketer!
Though BCCI hasn’t given any name for his replacement yet neither did BCCI clarified whether he has any kinda injury.
This is what BCCI statement read:
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee in consultation with the Indian team management has decided to rest all-rounder Hardik Pandya for the upcoming Paytm Test series against Sri Lanka. Mr. Pandya was named in the squad for the first two Tests.
“Considering Pandya’s heavy recent workload, the decision was made to negate any possibility of a major injury concern.
“Pandya will undergo a period of strength and conditioning at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.”
Well During the last game i.e. final T20 International against New Zealand in Thiruvananthapuram, Pandya was seen in pain while trying to stop a powerful hit off his own bowling.
So it’s a good decision of BCCI to keep off our current favorite cricketer from the field however it would better if this decision was taken earlier considering the workload on him “Every match Every Format“.
The Squad for the first two tests against Sri Lanka is: Virat Kohli (Captain), K.L Rahul, M. Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (Vice-Captain), Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha (WK), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma.
We wish all the luck to our team blue for the series!
