Toilet: Ek Prem Katha -Starting with the one which is still running in theatres, Akshay Kumar has proved that he has got what it takes to pull audiences to the theatres and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is the proof of it.

The uncommon love story of Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) and Keshav (Akshay Kumar) with Toilet being the villain in their fairy tale is running houseful. After Jab Harry Met Sejal couldn’t draw the attention of people Toilet Within five days of its release has managed to earn Rs 83.45 crore. With such good numbers, this is Akshay’s second film after Jolly LLB 2 which in the top 10 openers of 2017.

Raees – Raees was Shah Rukh Khan’s Republic Day release which collected Rs 137.51 crore despite having a clash with Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil. Though Baahubali: The Conclusion created a storm with its record-breaking collection of Rs 510.98 crore in India, But before Baahubali 2, Raees is the second highest earner of the year until now.

Tubelight – Though tubelight didn’t work as expected from Salman Khan’s Eid-release. The actor, who could not impress the audience admitted that he never expected a positive review from film critics. In fact, the film also failed to touch the 120-crore mark and raked in only Rs 119.26 crore.

Jolly LLB 2 – the court room drama Jolly LLB 2 starring Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi made an entry to the 100-crore club with its total collection of Rs 117 crore.

Badrinath ki dulhaniyaa – The second movie from Karan Johar’s Dulhaniya series split its magic. Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer once again won hearts with their quirky yet simple love story. The film was released in March and earned Rs 116.68 crore.

Kaabil – Though Raees overpowered the movie still Hrithik’s acting managed to steal away the appreciation. Kaabil qualified the 100cr race, it collected Rs. 103.84 crore.

Hindi Medium – Irrfan Khan starrer Hindi Medium, an underrated movie, had a slow start despite that the film managed to earn Rs 69.59 crore. This film was made on a modest budget of Rs 22 crores.

Mubarkan – Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor succeeded in tickling the funny bone of the audience with their perfect comic timing in Mubarakan. The movie earned Rs 51.55 crore. Though the film, made on a budget of Rs 55 crore, got a slow opening, it picked up at the box office due to positive word-of-mouth.

Lipstick Under My Burkha: Last but not the least this ‘lady-oriented’ film amidst competition from other big banner movies managed to perform well at the box office. It grabbed Rs 18.87 crore. The film starring Konkona Sensharma and Ratna Pathak Shah was made on a very low budget of Rs 6 crores.

other Movies like Jagga Jasoos, Jab Harry Met Sejal Despite having big stars in it and great directors couldn’t do well although Jagga Jasoos had a decent opening somehow its performance sunk after that.

One movie which was in news due to controversies is Madhur Bhandarkar’s Indu Sarkar based on historical events, faced a dull start and failed to pull the audience to the theaters despite interesting storylines. While Indu Sarkar only earned Rs. 4.88 crore.
