Synopsis: Badrinath ki Dulhania tells the story of Badrinath Bansal and Vaidehi Trivedi who fall in love with each other despite their opposite views on life and gender. It intends to be a love-story from the word go, unlike the original film where love takes time to blossom between the two.
The film story is based on small town humor and it works fine with the film. Despite setting the story in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh where marriage is supposed to be the pinnacle of any girl’s ambition, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, takes this story forward. As Shashank Khaitan, the director of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania which was set up in Delhi, and now Badrinath Ki Dulhania, again helms this marriage-based drama.
Director ensured his leading actress Alia is aspiring for so much more than just a Lehenga as compared to last Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania. In this movie, She wants a career, she wants respect, she wants trust and she wants to be equally treated. And considering the young and talented Alia Bhatt is demanding all of this, the message is stronger and widely entertaining.
The romantic chemistry between Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt takes the story forward. They both establishes their character in entertaining scenes. Badri wants to propose Vaidehi, while she wants to know if he knows the full form of IIT.
In all they flirt, they love and they fight, they dance and they romance with utmost conviction. Songs like Retreaded Tamma Tamma Again or the dance-friendly Badri Ki Dulhania, Romantic Humsafar Song, you now it is a Karan Johar production thanks to the colors and the packaging.
The support cast also makes this film an enjoyable ride. The film takes on important issues and delivers a message without getting didactic.
