With every release of the film, many records have been broken. Now, the popularity of the films might be measured by the box office collection. Previously, the film’s popularity was measured by the duration of the film running in the theatres. DDLJ is on the top of the list, the film completed 1000 weeks in the Maratha Mandir theater in Mumbai. And also, those time films were accounted for the number of sold tickets for the film in theatres.
Here we come up with some movies which have sold highest number of tickets in the history of Indian cinema.
1. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
The DDLJ featured Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The film recorded the longest running film in the theatre for 1000 weeks. And the number of tickets sold was 4,80,89,000.
2. Hum Apke Hain Kaun
The film DDLJ is the longest running film but the film Hum Apke Hai Kaun scores for highest sold tickets ever in the history of Indian Cinema. The film featured Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit.
Tickets sold: 7,39,67,000
After Hum Apke Hai Kaun, the film Sholay recorded the maximum number of tickets sold. Sholay featured Amitabh and Dharmendra Jodi as Jai and Veeru.
Tickets Sold: 5,52,34,000
Aamir Khan’s movie Dangal is in the next position. The movie is based on the life of Mahaveer Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat The movie earned around 1900 crores worldwide and launched on 9000 screens in China.

5. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
One film of Shah Rukh Khan in a row. Which is also a successful film and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukherji.

6. Bajrangi Bhaijaan
Bajrangi Bhaijaan is the most heart touching film. The film featured Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and little girl Harshali Malhotra. Recently, Salman’s Tiger Zinda Hai made 500 crore box office collection.

7. Gadar Ek Prem Katha
This film is based on the epic love story at the time of India-Pakistan partition and riots. The film featured Sunny Deol, Amisha Patel, and Amrish Puri.

8. Baahubali Duology
After the Baahubali 1, the only question in everyone’s mind is that why Kattappa killed Bahubali? And then all were waiting for the second part of the film. The film featured famous South Indian actors Prabha and Anushka Shetty.

Aamir Khan film PK, which was directed by Raju Hirani. The film was satirical drama on the superstitious belief system with an element of ‘sci-fi’ to it. The film earned Rs 832 crores worldwide.

Raja Hindustani was the romantic drama film featured Aamir Khan and Karishma Kapoor.

The border was also one of my favourite film based on the India Pakistan war of 1971. The border was the multi-star film of that time and one of the highest budget film.
